Press Brake, Shop Press, and Dimple Dies

VersaPress 20-ton hydraulic shop press and press brake attachment side by side — built in Sandy, Oregon by Rogue Fabrication, US Patent 11,529,784

Built right here in Oregon

VersaPress & Dimple Dies
One Shop. One Footprint.

The VersaPress is a patented 20-ton hydraulic shop press with CNC press brake capability, hardware force control, and pre-loaded bend programs. Runs off any 3,000 PSI hydraulic pump — including your existing M6xx bender pump. No second power unit required.

The dimple dies are designed, machined, heat-treated, and nickel-plated right here in Oregon. Round profiles in standard sizes. Shaped profiles — stars, squares, ovals, diamonds — that nobody else makes.

20-ton shop press

The VersaPress is a full 20-ton hydraulic shop press with a power-adjustable table that drops to nearly ground level. The ram mounts center, left, or right. It runs off any 3,000 PSI hydraulic pump — including the 2HP pump on your M6xx bender. One pump, two tools, no second power unit.

The foot pedals control up and down independently. Auto-return brings the ram back to its fully open position with one touch — load your next part while it's on the way up. Hardware force control sets your tonnage limit at the machine level, not in software. It protects tooling, protects PEM inserts during hardware installation, and stops the machine from crashing into itself.

CNC press brake

Add the press brake attachment and the VersaPress becomes a CNC press brake with a glass scale encoder, OLED display, and 25-program storage. Twelve programs ship pre-loaded covering 16 gauge, 1/8", and 1/4" material at 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°. Each includes a correction factor for springback. Set your zero once, run your first bend, measure it, and adjust by the factor if needed. No starting from scratch every time.

This is air bending — the punch forms material into the die with an air gap at the bottom. It's how professional press brakes operate. Your angle is controlled by ram position, not tooling geometry, which means it's adjustable and repeatable regardless of material variation. The alternative — coining — spikes forces, produces inconsistent results, and is how most low-cost setups work. The VersaPress is not that.

Table rigidity

25 design iterations and finite element analysis on the table. Measured deflection under load: 35 thousandths of an inch with a single arbor plate. The Harbor Freight 20-ton table deflects substantially more under identical test conditions — enough to bow your press brake bends into a visible arc. If you're doing press brake work, the table is not a detail.

What dimple dies do

A dimple die forms a raised flange around a hole — adding stiffness to sheet metal without adding weight. Common applications are chassis panels, firewall cutouts, floor panels, belly skid plates, and anywhere a flat sheet needs rigidity around a penetration. The die set consists of a punch and a die; the press drives the punch through the sheet and into the die, forming the flange in one stroke.

Round dimple dies

The standard profile. Available in multiple diameters to match common hole sizes. Machined, heat-treated, and nickel-plated in Sandy, Oregon. Works in the VersaPress and in most standard shop presses — the VersaPress force control makes it straightforward to dial in consistent flattening across a production run.

Shaped dimple dies

Stars, squares, ovals, and diamonds. Nobody else makes these. Designed and produced entirely in-house in Oregon — same machining, same heat treatment, same nickel plating as the round dies. The shaped profiles are used where the round dimple doesn't suit the design, or where the shape itself is a visual element. Stars and diamonds show up on roll cage panels and interior parts. Ovals work well in tight spaces where a round dimple would overlap adjacent features. Squares are popular for gusset plates and flat structural panels.

Both round and shaped dies work with the VersaPress force control system. Run the first dimple without force control, read the tonnage required off the gauge, set that as your limit, and every subsequent dimple will have the same amount of flattening at the flange. Consistent parts, no operator variation.

The VersaPress

The frame is cut from US-sourced steel plate, laser cut and press brake formed in Oregon, then welded, machined, and powder coated here. The stainless pins are machined and welded in our shop. The ram assembly is built from 100% US-made parts. The arbor plates, caster plates, and all control brackets are made here. The hydraulic pump unit is assembled in the USA.

We import some components — pedals, PCBs, some hardware, and select hydraulic parts that account for less than 50% of the hydraulic system by weight. We're telling you because you deserve to know exactly what you're buying. The machine is 100% designed, assembled, and tested in Sandy, Oregon. US Patent No. 11,529,784.

The dimple dies

Designed, machined, heat-treated, and nickel-plated in Sandy, Oregon. No imported dies resold with our name on them. The shaped profiles especially — stars, squares, ovals, diamonds — are our own designs, produced entirely in-house. If you call us with a question about the dies, you're talking to the people who made them.

The VersaPress is the only machine in its class that combines a 20-ton hydraulic shop press, CNC press brake, hardware force control, and compatibility with an existing hydraulic pump in one footprint. Fabrication shops using the machine for PEM insert installation, dimple die work, general pressing, and sheet metal bending no longer need separate machines for each operation. The press brake attachment adds CNC bend capability with pre-loaded programs, a glass scale encoder, and air bending — the same method professional press brakes use — at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated CNC press brake.

The dimple dies in this category are designed and produced entirely in Sandy, Oregon — round profiles in standard diameters and shaped profiles including stars, squares, ovals, and diamonds that are not available from any other manufacturer. If you have questions about compatibility with your existing press or about which dimple die size fits your application, call 503-389-5413. We can answer that before you order.
